Hi I am new here so be kind. Great Forum, very informative. I have a simple question I think.
My new 2016 GLA250 came with Premium Package, Nav, etc, but no Sirius radio. I would like to add the factory satellite radio, the FM version seem too klunky. Can this be done? Has anyone done it?
When free trials for satellite radio and other. How To Save Money on Connected Car Subscriptions. Buy a used Mercedes through an authorized Mercedes.
I see modules for GLA250's for sale on Ebay, can this be purchased and easily added? Where does the module go and does the car have the wiring or that also required? Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.
BTW I am in Canada. I have let my SAT radio expire also-I use the USB for music, and found a website that has at least a thousand free old radio programs. I have a 64GB USB drive, room for a bunch of programming.
Just wondering what site you were referring to. I know some cars are 'pre-wired' for satellite radio without the service, making it easier to add after the fact? I'm guessing just getting a satellite radio-ready aftermarket radio would do the trick? If it's not pre-wired, I'm not sure how difficult it would be. I am no fan of Sirius/XM business practices. Let's just say 'lifetime subscription' doesn't mean lifetime. It means lifetime of that specific receiver.
So if you go out and get a new car... New receiver... 3 swaps max, $75 fee each time, none of which was disclosed to me when I originally purchased. I call that fraud, but, they don't care. Another tip with the expiry is they apparently get pretty desperate if you say no, not interested. You can talk them down pretty cheap if you try. And finally I like the idea of just using local HD radio and loading up your own music library.
With Android Auto and Apple Play in these cars now, Sirius' days are numbered and I think they know it.
